本品常与氯化钠1：100的混合物被称为钙红。
用途：用作指示剂，测定钙的灵敏试剂，络合指示剂。钙指示剂在pH=12～14之间显蓝色，与Ca2+形成红色络合物，用于钙镁混合物中钙的测定，终点变色较铬黑T敏锐。在此pH值时，由于生成的氢氧化镁测定吸附钙指示剂，故应在用氢氧化钠调节酸度后再加指示剂。由于钙指示剂的水溶液或乙醇溶液都不稳定，所以通常是与干燥的NaCl混合后直接将固体加入待测溶液中使用。
Uses: Used as an indicator, sensitive reagent for determination of calcium, complexing indicator. The calcium indicator is blue in pH=12 ~ 14, and forms a red complex with Ca2+, which is used for the determination of calcium in the calcium magnesium mixture, and the end discoloration is more sensitive than that of chromium black T. At this pH value, the indicator should be added after adjusting the acidity with sodium hydroxide due to the determination of calcium adsorption indicator by the generated magnesium hydroxide. Since the aqueous solution or ethanol solution of the calcium indicator is not stable, the solid is usually mixed with dry NaCl and directly added to the solution to be tested for use.
