性状：白色有光泽结晶。无气味。在露光的空气中变成浅灰色。慢慢加热开始升华。1g溶于1.7ml水、1.3ml乙醇、1.6ml乙醚，微溶于苯、氯仿和二硫化碳。其水溶液在空气中变深，在碱性溶液中则更快。相对密度1.45，沸点309℃。有刺激性。

用途：生化研究。金属络合剂。重量分析测定铋和锑。金、银、汞盐、磷钼酸和磷钨酸的还原剂。在气体分析中用于吸收氧气。在测定钽、铌时分离钛、铁和铝。用于亚硝酸盐、钼、铌、钛、铈、铋、铜、钒、铁、碘酸盐等的显色反应。
